'Tamasha' was more about Tara than Ved....

#4yearsoftamasha

To begin with, when I saw the movie for the first time, I thought this to be a haphazard movie without any Imtiaz Ali depth. I was waiting for some deep emotions, expressions and maybe connection, but was disappointed. The second time when I watched it, I felt it, the third time, I connected, fourth time, fifth time and the bond grew deeper and deeper.

In these four years, I have seen Tamasha many times and every time I felt a new connection with it. It never was Ved, but Tara took all my love. She is a woman of substance who knows when to hold on and let go. She was the mirror to the protagonist and the healer to the scars the mirror gave. She was the go-to-person for Ved at any point of time. The romanticism was not into the songs, mushy dialogues or the kisses, it was the honesty and the truth that Tara poured out to Ved at all points of time. The movie has personally taught me to accept things, to hold on, to inspire, to love unconditionally, to understand and to breakdown yet to stand up again.

I thought that maybe I am the only one who thought this movie to be so complicated yet enlightening. But…

Two years back, I attended Jashn-e-Rekhta, a three-day festival where URDU language is celebrated. Imtiaz Ali was there to speak about Jashn and Shayari on the open forum. Soon after he had finished his speech, the anchor asked the audience to interact with him and ask him anything. People may have waited for this moment to come. To my surprise, I saw people not asking but crying and thanking him for making this movie named ‘Tamasha’. Every voice that came from the crowd only had this message as ‘Thank You, Sir, for giving us the meaning of our Life.’

I can’t even explain what I felt at that moment. Like me, there may be many many people across the globe who want to thank him for such a beautiful and enriching experience that he gave us. This is just a note to thank Imtiaz Ali Sir for this particular movie from the deepest core of my heart.

Over Cups of Coffee

Confused about what to order, she starred at the menu list being displayed on the big LCD screen above. Thinking for a while, she said, I will go with your one.
This is what she did every time she met.
Conversations, coffee, and confusions were like the beads attached to the same string. She tried n tried to get over the dilemma that struck her day and night, but she was unable to choose one. Menu of these ‘Oh so international’ coffee shops were as confusing as her life. She never knew which one was for her. So, to know the taste that captivated her, she tried different flavours every single time she visited the place. But to her surprise, she never liked them. The cost and the worth never synced.
Whenever she went there, she had a feeling that her life would change over cups of coffee. She wanted to know more, talk more and understand more. But to her disappointment, nothing happened. When she conversed, she never connected. She either felt bored, or tired or blank.
Tired of visiting and sipping some, she was on the verge of giving up, when suddenly tea called her. She was pretty unsure whether to take the call or reject it. Over the years, she knew tea as a part of her lifestyle, a regular thing that she never paid heed to.
But now, when she was bored over coffee, she thought of giving it a try for the very first time to get away from her boredom and try something new yet known. She went, took and sipped. Refreshing and energetic she felt. Never in recent time did she feel so relaxed and easy. The starry sky, the moving vehicles, ringing bells, and calmness inside made her feel good. This was for the first time she connected; the conversations were real and those confusions faded.
No, not always ‘A lot can happen over coffee’, sometimes, tea wins the race.

The Conclusion..

Finally, the nation received its final answers after months of search. India was going through search crisis since 2015. One major question united the nation for almost two years. Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?

Now, when the second and the final installment of Baahubali is released, people will sign a breadth of relief with the exact reason as why the former killed the latter. In these two years, many movies came and went, but not a single movie was able to stir the nation like Baahubali. This is the best thing that I liked about the movie. All the scams, corruption and elections were left behind when Baahubali- The Conclusion came up.

On personal grounds I did not find any logic or connection for watching the rave. A movie that was not a movie, but a visual treat for people who loved video games. VFX work was flawless in both the part (as heard and read), which made the movie worth watching for the ones who went and are going. But is a movie all about watching it for VFX work. I mean, without any plot, storyline and concept, how can a movie work.

Movies are like mirror to the society. A concept packed movie is much more my choice that will make me think, feel, understand and change. It can be movie of any language, any region or any nation, but the connection should be the storyline in it and not the visuals.

Many movies in the recent past are in the row that needs special mention and attention from viewers. Those movies that don’t make it to the 100 crore club, but is a great piece of art to watch. Such movies that have the potential to bring change in the society through their plot, storyline and treatment, should be made, promoted and watched.

In the Ocean of Words…

Shivers went down my spine and I was awestruck. For that moment I was not able to understand what is to be done. It was like I did not exist in this world. Books and books everywhere took me to someplace else that may have never existed.
‘World Book Fair’ at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi was where I was standing. I as a reader was visiting it for the third time. Entering the much known venue can bring so much satisfaction is what this Book Fair teaches me. Every year I go through the same place, same type of books, same publishers and same writers, but still something changes from year to year.
With each passing day, I am growing, I am aging and I am gaining, not only pounds of weight, but experience, happiness, sadness, success, failure and countless other emotions. Wish or desire to read a book revolves around the emotion or say situation we all go through.
Like every child, every book is special in its own way and as beauty lies in the eyes of beholder, fondness of a book lies in the mind of a reader. In the ocean of books, I feel like swimming, touching the words and feeling it in me like the waves. Going deep down the book, at that limit their words change into visuals, playing straight in front of me. It is an amazing experience to know each story, to know each character and to live with the character until it’s over.
Book lovers are many, but living with a book is rare, flowing with a story is not that happens daily. I live with a book. I wish to read all the books, but alas time is brutal. It takes away those things that are dear to us. Managing with this hectic schedule is like fighting with the huge waves that swipe your feet away from sand and carries you to the water.
But Struggle is what keeps you moving one..!! Keep Moving Keep Reading.

My blue earphones

Heaven’s Eco is what I called it when a friend of mine asked me how the experience of my new earphone is.
Yes, that may sound something excess, but still I was mesmerized by the sound it brings out. It is like your soul is touched when you put them on. The soothing music that goes deep down to your heart and back is that touches your soul unknowingly. You no longer reside in this universe and that is the best thing this set of earphone has given me.
Using it for quite a few days, I felt happy and satisfied that the money that I have invested in it is a total ‘paisa vasool’ type product. But lately, with time I realized that music takes us to some other land, to some other universe or destination which may never exist and this set of earphone is just a gateway to escape from the real world for quite some time.
Music is like a therapy, the more you listen, the more get to know which therapy suits your which mood. My favourite therapy is soulful songs that make your heart beat a time more.  Soulful can never be complete without sufi songs. Sufi songs are those songs that connect you to your beloved, those songs that connect your love to god, those songs that brings love back in your life.
Sufism is something that makes you feel connected deeply with your inner self, and sufi poems, songs are the way to express yourself in a way like never before. Sufi music came into existence around 1000 years back. In the 10th and 11th century, soon after Islam entered the country in 8th century, Delhi Sultanate was having Sufi mystic traditions in it. Sufi music is mainly the devotional music that Sufi poets have brought forth. Rumi (my favourite), Hafiz, Bulleh Shah, Amir Khusrow and Khwaja Ghulam Farid are some eminent sufi poets.
Time passed, but Sufism never left our culture. The practice of Sufi songs is increasing with each new song. A.R.Rahman is someone who has worked on it a lot and all his songs having sufi music has gained acclaim and audience support. Rockstar is such an album that has got some striking sufi tracks that bounds you to listen to it again and again. Every music director is investing themselves in experimenting with such new music and bollywood has received some great sufi works and may be more to come.
Alike sufi teachings that is based on divine spirituality, cosmic harmony, love and humanity , the music also comes up with same thoughts and similar feel. Every song inspired by Sufi Poem is in itself a way to get connected to love-unconditional love that passes straight from heart to God. I am glad that my ear phone is doing some spiritual work for me to connect me with my soul and vice versa.
Ending this note with one of my favourite Rumi quote “Your body is away from me but there is a window open from my heart to yours. From this window, like the moon. I keep sending news secretly.”

Her Best Friend...

And then one day she suddenly saw her.
Awestruck by the way her best friend looked.
She tried not to recognise her first, but her 12 years attachment was not less to ignore it.
Straight and silky hair tied in different way she had never seen before, face had lost that innocence which was the best thing her best friend had, eye lashes where not the original ones, lips were pouted and bright colours were painted on it. Her best friend’s eyes had a wall of bizarre coloured contact lense that made her uncomfortable to even glance at her. The clothes her best friend wore were rags. A perfectly crafted body with some heavy makeup on it, a different attitude and even a very different smile was all her best friend had now.
Nothing she knew of her matched the way now.
Yes, her best friend has changed.
Long conversations, daily fights, kisses, hugs, playing together, serving punishment together, sharing lunch, breakfast, pencil box, copies, books and many more were the memories she carried in her heart for years before this day.
A simple hi was also tough for her. She thought for a while and turned back not to get noticed by the same girl who was once her soul sister.
Changed Time!!

Those Black Shades aka 'Kala Chashma'

Katrina's Killer abs- I really do not understand that what is so much killer in her abs?
Ok, I know that she is beautiful, curvy, good looking, charming and so on. But her abs, can be termed as ribs as well are not killing at all. Looking at them, it is like she is hit by mal nutrition. This generally happens when people undergo lack of food that has displaced them (the abs) out from its exact position. She looks skinny and sick as well. Though ‘Kala Chashma’ is one of the trending item numbers of the year, still do you really feel that Katrina's new avatar is making people go gaga over her.
I doubt.
In this time frame when actresses are hit by voluptuous shape, Katrina reminds me of Kareena in ‘Tashan’. Kareena introduced us with a new term, “zero size figure”. It was something that took our breaths away when she sported the look for the movie. But the look looked as disheartening as the movie itself. Being a multi starrer also, the stars were unable to save the movie from drowning. One good thing that was a life changing event for Saifeena was that the actors got hitched and the Pataudis got their new begum.
Now, let's again come back to Katrina’s Abs and her dance moves. I was simply wondering that like us, normal human beings, is this a break up effect that made Katrina Killer with her abs.
Enough of it. Let us share something good for her as well, though I know that my good or bad words will not affect her any way. Still when I have criticized her looks so much, so good words needs to be said which is true and should be mentioned. There is no hesitation in saying that Katrina can be termed as a great dancer. She has showcased her dance moves in many items numbers which turned out to be the biggest hits of all time. ‘Kala Chashma’ is also one such dance number which has received millions of viewers. The song is a recreated version and like the original version it too became very popular and is gaining good position in the playlists. Gujarati version also is out for listeners and viewers to take a look at.
Last but not the least, enjoy the kala chashma song with chashma or without chashma.
